The Veritas Integrated Classification Engine ships with preloaded patterns for detecting roughly 1,200 sensitive data patterns, including dates of birth, social security numbers, credit card numbers and medical records.

Rather than spending months on classification, Data Insight can classify on a targeted basis to meet requirements in as little as 72 hours. It uses metadata from multiple content sources. It monitors security descriptors and uses not only file metadata but user metadata to provide intelligence. User metadata can include attributes such as job function, department and geographic location. This process allows users to query the environment dynamically and understand the context in which a file makes use of information.

To stop sensitive data from leaking, Data Insight offers a rapid access alert capability for sensitive files identified through DLP or the Veritas Integrated Classification Engine. The rapid access alert capability also makes it possible to monitor and detect potentially malicious activity by users.

Through multi-dimensional analysis of permissions, deviations and alerts that run counter to access policies, it can protect against insider threats within the organization.

Data Insight ships with pre-built ransomware detection templates that can detect ransomware through read and write count variables. Veritas updates Data Insight's ransomware identification policies regularly.

Thanks to tight integration with Veritas Enterprise Vault ™ File System Archiving, Data Insight provides data archiving and retention. Users can archive files directly from Data Insight with a single click and apply the actions and retention policies created in Enterprise Vault.

The access certification workflow helps users involve business owners or data stewards in reviewing permissions for the data they own and in deciding to revoke access for unwanted or inactive users, establishing accountability for the data they own.
