How does FileOrbis work?

FileOrbis communicates with many systems in order to manage files intelligently, and integrates with the technologies you use. You can think of FileOrbis as an IT unit working 24/7 that you have set up to improve your data management standards. FileOrbis manages file environments, NTFS permissions and your mobile and web access; it integrates with DLP, antivirus, SMTP, Active Directory and your domain-DMZ structure; and it replaces FTP and VPN services used for file access.

FileOrbis is installed on-premises within your own systems very easily and quickly. Integrating with your DMZ and domain definitions in line with your network design, it manages network drives, profile files and user files by synchronizing them with NTFS permissions — it does not require you to migrate your file environments or redefine existing permissions. Integrating with AD and OpenLDAP, it recognizes all users and their passwords automatically, with no need to create new users.

FileOrbis divides its security processes into three stages: pre-process, process and post-process. The security steps sit mostly in the pre-process stage and aim to perform security analysis before a file enters the system. Every file to be brought into the system is met by the pre-process stage and put through security analysis before it enters. Files found to be safe are admitted to the system and passed through the process-stage security analysis, FileOrbis Filewall and the other security layers. In the post-process stage, end-to-end security is completed through detailed access reporting, permission analysis and, where necessary, the revocation of access — including access via links and email attachments.
