Prisma Access Browser: Bringing Enterprise Security Into the Browser
2 November 2026

Prisma Access Browser is an enterprise browser that governs access to corporate applications and data directly at the browser layer and is natively integrated with Palo Alto Networks security engines. Palo Alto has more recently also referred to the product as Prisma Browser. It is built on Chromium and is available as a desktop browser, as an extension for existing browsers and as a mobile app. With almost the entire working day spent in the browser, that is also where corporate data travels most.
Data Is Protected Without Leaving the Browser
Last-mile controls: Actions such as copy and paste, downloading, printing, taking screenshots and saving files to the device are allowed, limited or blocked based on user risk, location and data sensitivity.
Built-in data loss prevention: Sensitive data is recognised with more than a thousand of Palo Alto's AI-driven classifiers and over 22 compliance profiles such as HIPAA and GDPR; transfers from corporate applications to personal accounts can be blocked.
Step-up checks for risky actions: High-risk actions such as bulk exports or printing can require step-up authentication and just-in-time approval.
Extension control: All browser extensions in use are discovered and continuously monitored; risky or over-permissioned extensions are blocked.
Protection Against Threats
Web page components are scanned in real time, suspicious downloads are analysed in a sandbox, and protection is provided against AI-generated phishing pages. The corporate workspace is isolated from the rest of the untrusted device.
Where Does It Stand Out?
Bring your own device (BYOD): secure access to corporate applications without installing a full management agent. Contractors and external workers: access stays controlled even on devices the organisation does not own. Mergers and acquisitions: users of the new company connect to applications without waiting for network integration. Reducing VDI: Palo Alto states that in certain scenarios total cost of ownership can fall by up to 80% compared with VDI and DaaS. Governing generative AI: pasting or uploading sensitive data to unsanctioned AI applications is blocked.
Part of SASE
Prisma Access Browser belongs to Palo Alto's Prisma SASE family; the same policy approach applies to the browser, to traffic flowing through Prisma Access and to the next-generation firewall. Security thereby becomes independent of the device the user happens to be on.
