Enterprise Vault Classification is a module for Arctera's enterprise archiving platform, Enterprise Vault, that automatically classifies content entering the archive according to governance rules. Keeping everything forever is a cost and keeping nothing is a risk; striking the balance by hand becomes impossible as the organisation grows. Classification moves that decision into the policy layer.

How Does It Work?

Automatic classification: The metadata and content attributes of incoming archive content are evaluated against defined rules, and a retention category is assigned automatically.

Time- and event-based retention: The end of a contract or an employee's departure can start the retention clock.

Audited disposal: Expired content is deleted through a controlled flow that leaves an audit trail; what matters to a regulator is being able to show why and when the deletion was decided.

Benefits for Organisations

The balance between storage cost and compliance risk is set by rules, not by hand. Classification tags also feed surveillance and eDiscovery workflows; noise cannot be filtered in an untagged archive, while in a tagged one review focuses on the right content.
