Cohesity DataProtect

Cohesity DataProtect is a backup and recovery solution that consolidates backups of virtual machines, databases, file servers and SaaS applications onto a single scale-out platform, protecting them against ransomware with immutable snapshots. It brings backup software and backup storage together on the same platform, removing the silos otherwise built from a separate backup server, backup target and replication tier. Virtualisation platforms, databases such as Oracle and SQL Server, NAS systems, physical servers, Kubernetes and Microsoft 365 are all managed from one console in the same policy language.

Snapshots are held in immutable (WORM) form and unusual changes to backup data are flagged by behavioural analysis; if an environment hit by ransomware also tries to encrypt the backup itself, that is noticed. On recovery, hundreds of virtual machines can be run directly from the platform without waiting for a copy, bringing recovery time down from hours to minutes. Global deduplication and compression noticeably reduce the disk capacity needed for the same retention period.
